Koblenz P1800 Commercial Polisher Recommendations:
Hardwood floors and ceramic throughout the home is nice, but very laborious to upkeep. I elected to try this out to avoid numerous ours of mopping and cleaning. Excellent design, works well, brightened all surfaces, and saved time. There are never enough hours in the day, so this was a good choice. The only improvement might be a longer power cord.
The Koblenz Polisher is a great machine for the price. Works as well as a previous machine I had which was much more expensive.
Another reviewer wrote: Ok for the money. It'll last me forever considering the number of times I will be using it. I do not consider it suitable for large areas or repetitive use.
BEFORE You Buy A Floor Scrubber
What are Floor Cleaning Machines?
There comes a large variety of floor cleaning machines. It includes: buffers, cleaners, industrial vacuums, scrubbers and extractors which can deep clean just about any carpet or floor of your home or office in a much shorter time as compared to any conventional cleaning method or equipment. These machines deliver professional results while protecting and preserving the floors, thus adding to their life.
Who uses them?
Floor cleaning machines are instrumental in protecting and preserving large floor areas, carpeted or otherwise, and are vastly used in commercial buildings like gymnasiums, schools, shopping centers, hospitals, warehouses and such like. Professional cleaning companies and big business houses that have their own arrangements for cleaning employ these machines for regular cleaning and wide ranging jobs.
What are the different types of floor cleaning machines?
There is a large variety of floor machines with a host of manufacturers offering different brands with varying specifications. It helps to consult a specialist to know what kind of machine is best suited to your requirements.
You’ll find a number of machines that can be used for different applications for sizes varying from that of a small room to a large area. Depending on the requirements, you get specific machines with special features, more suited for the job at hand.
Floor finishing machines
* Buffers - Remove scratches and abrasions resulting to floors that have a smooth finish. Large propane buffers using propane as fuel are used for large industrial applications
* Sanders – used for getting rid of imperfections and splintering before finishing jobs
* Polishers – Employed for getting a glossy finish to wood flooring
* Stone and marble polishers –for refurbishing and maintenance of floors using marble, limestone, and granite
* Floor strippers – for taking out old layers of floor finish prior to application of a new coat
* Floor stripper applicators – for spreading and application of new finishes
Floor Cleaners
* Compact floor machines - Low-speed floor polishers that can easily access narrow paths and area around furniture.
* Scrubbers – These have high speed motors and provided with brushes to clean different floor surfaces.
Scrubbers can basically be classified into three categories:
1. Small scrubbers designed for baseboards or tile and grout
2. Walk-behind floor scrubbers for cleaning from 18,500 to 42,000 square feet per hour; you also get battery operated models
3. Ride-on floor scrubbers are self-driven systems working on battery, diesel, LP, or Gas, and can clean areas as large as 33,000 to 83,000 square feet per hour
* Scarifiers – They come with multiple brushes and remove stubborn oil and grease spots
* Sweepers - Gas, LP, or Diesel operate vacuums meant for large areas like manufacturing plants, parking lots, or outdoor arenas
* Tile & grout cleaners – Working on batteries these are employed for cleaning shower/locker rooms, clean restrooms, pools, windows and stairwells
Carpet Cleaning Machines
* Cleaner/extractors – They break down deep dirt and grime in carpets through a power wash and then remove the polluted fluids
* Carpet dryers – Employed for quick drying of carpets
Industrial vacuums
* Backpack vacuums – These are lightweight models to vacuum narrow spaces, leaving your arms free.
* Large area vacuums – They come with a wider base and very powerful motor for handling larger areas.
* Wet-dry vacuums – You need them for cleaning of large spills and debris.
* Touchless cleaning systems –These machines employ a blast cleaning process that enables you not to touch any dirty or contaminated area.
How to determine the size of the required machine?
You have to assess the area that is to be cleaned. Floor cleaning devices are rated on the basis of area that they can clean in a given unit of time. For example, a small domestic scrubber can very well clean the floors of your house but it won’t suffice for cleaning of say a warehouse. Moreover, you should know the size of the entrances and aisles to ascertain that the machine can approach the tighter areas. Another important determining factor is the foot traffic, meaning how frequently and how many people are using the same floor area and if they are carrying in lots of grime and dirt to your floors.
What are the other features one should look for while choosing a machine for cleaning of floor?
* Necessary features – Floor cleaning machines come with certain features that help quicker and efficient cleaning of floors. These features often add to the price of the machine but certainly deliver more productivity.
* Understand terminology –"Lightweight" doesn’t always stand for low power. Likewise, “industrial” need not necessarily point to very large machine. Rather than getting carried away by the buzzwords, understand the performance of the machine.
* Noise considerations – Some of the machines are very loud, but that doesn’t matter if they are used after office hours. However, if you intend using the machine for cleaning purposes during the working hours, you surely need to have a machine with low decibels, so that the workers are not distracted while at work.
* Combination equipment – Certain equipment is designed to do more than just cleaning operation, thus saving you from investing in multiple machines. However, it may not be worth investing in such a machine if it can’t perform more than one job effectively.
Normally, what’s the warranty period offered by the suppliers?
It depends upon the machine. Some carry a warranty period of just thirty to ninety days while others are warranted for ten years! It’ll be worthwhile to point out here that some of the mechanical parts and power supply units comprising of batteries would have significantly shorter warranty periods.
What should be the expected price?
The price varies as per your choice of equipment, meaning its size, power and the kind of fuel it needs,

How To Use Floor Scrubber
First thing to do is to unplug the battery charger and set the cord on its place. You don't want it to fall down and make you a problem. After you take care of this, you have to install pad drive and install a pad itself. You can also use a brush, depending on what kind of work you are doing. This also means that you have to check for the recovery tank. Make sure it is empty so you do not have to stop in the middle of the work for no good reason.
It is always a good idea to check is the vacuum shut-off operational. Make sure there is nothing in the way and that you are getting the maximum out of a floor scrubber. Then check the solution tank. If there isn't enough of it, fill it up with the solution you bought. Now you are ready to start the machine.
You should select the appropriate water and pad pressure. This depends on what kind of surface you are working on. The manual should have all the setting already explained, so you have to check it for the details. After you've done that, you can start the brushes and vacuum. Now you only have to lower the squeegee and start scrubbing.
When your floor scrubber fills up the recovery tank, you should turn off the machine completely, but before you have to shut off the vacuum, brushes and water. You can now lift the squeegee and shut the whole machine off. Empty the recovery tank into drain, then you can start using the machine again. You have to start from the beginning, completing all the steps in the exact order.

Using Scrubbers For Polished Concrete Floor Maintenance
Polished concrete floor maintenance is becoming very popular choice for commercial businesses and homeowners in the past few years. It is a flooring choice that is not just stunning to look at, it is the most durable type of floor you can have. And this is exactly why it has such a popularity and why so many people choose to have it over other types of flooring.
These polished concrete floors are finished and are not impervious to scratches. This is why they have to be treated with some kind of polish from time to time. Otherwise, they may become stained and lose their appearance.
It is important to remember that these floors have to be cleaned regularly and that walk off mats are highly recommended. They will prolong the life of the surface and will keep the sharp sand from the flooring. We all know how sand can be dangerous and what kind of damage it can make.
You should use a micro-fiber mop to clean the polished floors. But the best solution is a floor scrubber. It has the ability to replace the damp mop that uses neutral cleaner. And it is also a good solution to save time. Usually, these are large surfaces and it would take quite a while to clean them. That's why a floor scrubber can be a great help here. It can be used in different tasks, and one of them is polishing concrete floors. Since these machines are fairly easy to use, many homeowners have them. And if you have a large area to clean and polish, floor scrubber is a must.
You will be able to find buffing pads with diamonds impregnated. It is exactly what gives the shine to the floor and the work you need to do is quite small. And if you are doing the cleaning, you will only need white pads for your floor buffer.
Reactive stains will etch the top layer of the concrete floors and you will have to deal with the damage. This is why you should clean the surface regularly, or even better, get it sealed. A floor scrubber will be a helpful tool in both activities.
When you add topical polisher, you get some protection to the floor. You can easily maintain them and put some high gloss too. If your flooring gets some serious traffic, use diamond impregnated pads or even resin bond diamonds. They will surely bring back the gloss to your floor.

Looking For A Floor Scrubber
You all know the saying that goes: Cleanliness is next to godliness. When we take effort and clean our surroundings, we are no longer in fear for our own health, which makes as be at ease. This is something that works on a basic level and we really do not need to learn about it in school. We know that clean home minimizes changes for accidents or injuries. This is why choosing a proper floor scrubber is so important. Not only we have to clean the flooring regularly for hygienic reasons, but we have to make it look shiny for the effect. And that is the job for a floor scrubber, right?
The two main priorities of any floor buffer are to clean your floors and polish them. This is what makes wood flooring to shine and luster. And since these are jobs that can be done in several different ways, it is important to choose the one that would suit you best. It would be easy if there is only one model of floor scrubber out there, but that isn't the case.First thing, you will find plenty of brands who are making this product. For example, Sweeperland, Koblenz and Black & Decker. They are all in this business for a long time and make quality floor polishers. The number of models they offer is quite big, so you will have to figure out what do you actually need before buying one of them.
You have to know the total area you will be maintaining, which will be the best pointer in choosing the floor scrubber. For example, regular ones go from 20" to 38" in diameter, but commercial models go above that. This is why you have to figure out what your needs out, so you can buy floor scrubber that will be used effectively.
Another thing that is important is the surface type you are going to work on. Some are smooth, but others won't be. The thing is, not all models are able to work on all floor types. So you have to make your pick, according to what you need. And the mode of operation comes into question too, because you can use a floor scrubber that is run by gas, battery or electricity.
For more efficiency, use gas or battery powered one. But, they will lose energy efficiency pretty fast. The most convenient option is to use a automated scrubber. Only go with this option if you have a big budget.
These are just some of the basics you need to take care of before buying a floor polisher. It is not easy to find the right one. But the truth is, even if you use it on your home only, it will pay off after 4 or 5 uses. You would usually have to rent one and spend money each and every time you are doing the flooring. But getting a floor buffer saves you money in the long run. And it is lot more convenient to have that machine in your garage and use it when you want to.

General Floor Scrubber Information
Cleaning floors does not have to be such a hard task, if you know what you are doing. And if you are doing it with a floor scrubber, then you are on the right track to finish the job right and in a quick manner. Before you say that floor scrubbers are expensive and complicated, read some reviews and get informed on what they can offer to you.
You can find electric scrubbers or even the type that goes on batteries. These are more expensive but they give a freedom of maneuvering. And they are as effective as any other model out there. There are many models you can choose from, and some of the companies who are making these are KENT, Advance, Clarke and Euroclean. These machines work on a simple basis. They actually replace all the actions that you would take when doing the work manually. The difference is, floor scrubbers do it all in one step and they do it a lot faster than any man can.
You can use them for cleaning, scrubbing, polishing and vacuuming. When you are using these on already finished floors, you will witness the ultimate cleaning machines working. They will spray the solution on the floor first. After that, the brushes will scrub all the dirt that has stuck in the pores of the floor. Only putting the solution would not help. Or just doing the scrubbing. But together, these two activities do not leave any chance to dirt.
After the scrubbing, all the dirt that has come out of pores is not left there to dry and make troubles again. It is being vacuumed and sealed away. And the final step is drying. If the flooring is still wet, the chances for dirt to stick to the surface again are much bigger. But a scrubber will simply dry up the surface it has worked on and the floors will be cleaned and shiny for a long time.
You can use these machines for polishing as well. They are very effective and do a better job then you can do it manually. And not to mention that they are a lot faster about it. Since the brushes are already there, you just need to use the canisters and sip the wax in them. Everything else is taken care of.
When it comes to size and functionality, you can find different models that have different cleaning path sizes and pad holders. The power of vacuuming motor also varies, as well as the battery size and life. When you figure out the surface you need to maintain, you will easily know what kind of floor scrubber would suit you best. But whichever model you choose, you will make a smart choice. It will be much cheaper to do this by yourself then calling a professional who will charge you a lot of money. And there is no need for that, this is a simple process that does not require any special skills. All you have to do to keep your flooring at the highest level is to own one of these machines.
